Man arrested for robbing Friendly's in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, July 29, 2010 --New Hartford police arrested a Utica man after they say he robbed Friendly's restaurant on Burrstone Road.

Stefan H. Rubitski, 31, of Utica was arrested  and charged with third degree robbery. Police say he walked in the store and handed the teller a note.

According to police, employees were able to stall until police arrived. New Hartford, Utica, Yorkville, Kirkland, Whitestown, Whitesboro and New York Mills police all responded to the scene. No weapon was displayed and nobody was injured.

This will end up being just one more case where someone is not made to take responsibility for his own actions. Hope he doesnt kill anybody when he pulls his next trick.

If he is retarded and others are putting him up to this kind of behavior whomever the others are they should be arrested as well. Using a retarded young man to steal for them is despicable.
If the young man is retarded and doing this on his own he needs to be in an inpatient facility where he can be constantly monitored and educated.

No matter if he has mental illness or not, he broke the law. He should be an inpatient in a facility for his mental illness.

Just because someone is mentally challenged does not mean they can go ahead and break the law. If he was indeed put up to it, then those people should also be arrested.

STEFAN RUBITSKI IS REALLY A NICE PERSON WITH MENTLE ILLNESS. I DON'T THINK HE KNEW WHAT HE IS DOING, SOMEONE PUT HIM UP TO IT. HE DONE THIS IN OTHER STORES IN WHITESBORO UPON SOME IDOITS PUTTING HIM UP TO IT. IN RITEAID MY DAUGHTER & MANEGER ESCORTED HIM OUT AND EXPLAINED TO HIM IT WAS WRONG. HE DOES NOT BELONG IN JAIL!!
