SYLVAN BEACH, June 16, 2009-- State Police in Sylvan Beach arrested a village man early Sunday morning following a reported attack on a woman who was entering her car after leaving a local establishment.

Tullio L. Dellaquila, 43,  from Sunset Cottages Apartment # 7 in Sylvan Beach was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, a class "B" Felony; Unlawful Imprisonment 1st, a class"E" Felony; and Assault 3rd, a class "A" Misdemeanor.

Dellaquila was charged after an investigation into an attack of a 27-year-old woman in her car at around 1am on Sunday.  The victim had just left the Crazy Clam restaurant on Spencer Avenue in Sylvan Beach following a friend's wedding when the attack occurred.

The victim told Utica Daily News that she was entering her car when a 'masked man' forced himself into her vehicle.  He forced a hard object against her stomach and ordered her to stop sceaming, she said.  Following a struggle she was able to exit through the passenger-side door where the man caught her again and began beating her.  During the struggle, the woman was able to free herself once again and run to saftey.

The victim received multiple cuts and bruises from the attack. She said the man was covered with a mask and he was wearing latex gloves and latex covers over his shoes.  She said a knife was found at the scene near her car, but she was unsure if any of the cuts on her body were caused by the knife.

Multiple witnesses saw the attack and followed the man from the car to his residence, according to police.

Troopers interviewed Dellaquila at his cottage where he was taken into custody.  He was also in possession of 40 grams of cocaine.

Dellaquila was arraigned in the Village of Sylvan Beach Court and held in the Oneida County Jail without Bail.

Given the elaborate way he prepared for this assault:
1) The District Attorney could easily prove premeditation if he can pull himself away from indicting harmless streakers and graffiti artists.

2) The guy clearly has done this kind of thing before and this would be a good time for other victims to come forward.

This mother****** should not have been running around loose. He already had a few felonies under his belt. If he doesn't get put away this time, the justice system really is broken. Also, why does fricking ASSAULT get less of a charge than Criminal Possesion?!
