COOPERSTOWN 30, MOHAWK-RICHFIELD 0
On the last weekend of summer the Cooperstown Redskins blanked the Mohawk-Richifield Springs Tribe 30-0 to remain undefeated headed into a showdown next Saturday against Holland Patent who are also undefeated.
Cooperstown’s Scott Millea caught a 42 yard pass from quarterback Tyler Hoke in the first quarter and running back Alec Silvera scored from 3 yards out gave Cooperstown all the scoring they would need right off the bat. Redskins defender James McArdle blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety to make the score 16-0 Redskins at the end of one quarter. Silvera again scored from 3 yards out in the second quarter and again from 7 yards out in the 3rd quarter to finish the scoring attack for Cooperstown.
Silvera finished with 15 rushes for 113 yards with Tanner Niedzialkowski running it 13 times for 46 yards. Tyler Hoke threw for 62 yards and a TD on 3-8 passing. Mohawk-Richfield Springs falls to 0-3 and will play at the Golden Bombers next Friday night in a battle of winless teams.
DOLGEVILLE 41, LITTLE FALLS 0
On a spectacular day for football the Dolgeville Blue Devils off a rare loss at home last week to the Notre Dame Jugglers came out and man handled the Mounties 41-0 in front of a packed house in Little Falls. The Blue Devils were led by outstanding running back Michael Barnes who rushed for 175 yards on 21 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. One of those scores came on a fumble return of 38 yards to complete the scoring for Dolgeville late in the third quarter.
Quarterback Zach Goyette passed 6-10 for 128 yards and touchdown when he hit Chris Robotham on an 11 yard strike just before the end of the first half. Alex Snyder rumbled for a 78 yard run with 5:00 left in the first half and finished the day with 104 yards rushing on only 6 carries. The Little Falls Mounties were led by Ray Ruggerio and Jake Foster who each rushed for 33 yards. Alex Chlus completed 5 out of 8 passes for 45 yards and one interception. Little Falls had only 106 yards of total offense. Dolgeville is now 2-1 and the Mounties fall to 0-3
